Benefits of Dry Ice Blasting
Dry ice blasting offers a powerful, eco-friendly, and non-damaging alternative to traditional cleaning methods.Using compressed air and solid CO₂ pellets, it effectively removes contaminants without the use of water, chemicals, or abrasive materials. This innovative process is not only safe for people and equipment but also minimizes environmental impact. Its unique combination of speed, safety, and cleanliness makes it an ideal solution across a wide range of industries—from manufacturing and food processing to restoration and electronics.

Non Abrasive
Dry ice is a soft media comparable to chalk on a Mohs scale. That will not harm substrates.

Eco-friendly
Dryice is made from recycled CO₂. The blasting process does not add further CO₂ to the atmosphere. Saves water usage compared to similar cleaning methods.

Chemical free
No chemical agents are required for cleaning, so no contaminants can be distributed into the environment. Dry ice is a food grade media.

Safer for poeple
No additional chemicals, greatly reduced repetitive manual cleaning processes. Less airborne matter than other cleaning methods.

Less Shutdown Time
Equipment can be cleaned online. The need for cooldown time or disassembly is eliminated.

Dry Process (no water)
Ideal for temperature sensitive environments and components like electrical wiring and electronics. Prevents rust or corrosion and is ideal to stop mold growth.

Efficient Cleaning Process
Quick efficient cleaning process able to access all difficult areas. Significantly less post clean up time as no secondary waste is produced.

Versitility
Dry ice blasting is highly versatile on a wide range of surfaces, industries and cleaning needs without causing damage to equipment or leaving residue.
Eco-Friendly Cleaning
With stricter regulations and growing environmental awareness, industries are turning to sustainable cleaning solutions. Traditional methods often rely on harsh chemicals, create harmful secondary waste, and pose risks to both the environment and worker health.
Dry ice blasting is a safe, effective, and environmentally friendly alternative. It uses dry ice pellets made from reclaimed CO₂—a byproduct of processes like oil refining and fermentation—capturing emissions that would otherwise enter the atmosphere.
Unlike methods such as soda blasting, dry ice sublimates on contact, converting from solid to gas and leaving no residue or secondary waste. This eliminates the need for post-cleaning disposal and reduces environmental contamination.
Key Benefits:
- Zero additional CO₂ emissions
- Non-toxic and chemical-free
- No soil or water contamination
- Safer for workers with no exposure to hazardous chemicals
- Approved by the EA, OEP, and FSA
Dry ice blasting aligns with environmental standards and workplace safety regulations, offering a powerful solution that protects both people and the planet.
Process of Material removal
The cleaning action of dry ice blasting is based on three physical effects:
- As with most other blasting methods, the accelerated particles emit kinetic energy on impact, allows the breakdown of stubborn agents including silicone, rubber, paints and residues. The Mohs hardness (scale of mineral hardness) of the pellets produced during dry ice blasting is approximately the same as that of plaster, ensuring a potent clean.
- Thermal energy from the abrupt cooling to -79°C causes a thermal shock effect that produces fine cracks in the top layer of the material to be removed. This embrittlement process allows material to crumble away from the surface.
- Some of the frozen CO₂ penetrates these cracks caused by the thermal shock, where it then sublimates, (Increases in volume many hundreds of times) on a microscopic scale. This expansion literally blasts the dirt layers off.
Through these three physical effects, dry ice blasting is able to remove unwanted paints, oil, grease, tar, bitumen, ink, resin, adhesives, wax, silicon, rubber and other residues and a wide variety of dirt encrustations from a diverse range of surfaces.
